| Georgia Southern Universtiy Building New Mixed Use Project Georgia Southern's continued growth in Statesboro has led to the newest on campus housing project to be developed. Named Centennial Place, the massive dorm located at the intersection of Chandler Road and Georgia Ave will provide 1,000 new beds for students to call home. It will not be your typical dorm however. According to GSU, it will feature two and four bedroom apartments for upper class students while freshmen will be able to choose from 2 person suites with private bedrooms, a 2 person suite with a shared bedroom, or the 4 person super suites. It will provide private bathrooms for every 2 students. It will also be equipped with computer labs, recreation areas, pool tables, classrooms, kitchen and multipurpose room. It will also be GSU's first dorm to contain retail space and a food court on the ground floor. Tenants will include Cold Stone Creamery, Quizno's Subs, The Pickle Barrel (a GSU operated convenience store), an optometry store and the Eagle Print Shop. The project which replaces Winburn Hall, Olliff Hall, and Johnson Hall is estimated to be complete July 2009. The project is valued at $41 million dollars.
